How to become Microsoft Evangelist

  • Comments 2

I was wondering for quite some time, what needs to become Microsoft evangelist and who will give me that “title”… is there are exam to pass… what has to be done… work for Microsoft… give feedback to the community…organize events… What?

Some notes from the research I made:

* Presenting/Training .NET development topics
* Working with User Groups to ensure they get adequate support from Microsoft
* Writing sample code
* Working with local influential’s such as MVPs and RD
* Organizing and managing local developer events, conferences

(the most important)
* Microsoft employee ???

If you have more information on this....let's talk about it

  • Е да, мора да си вработен во Microsoft

  • Tight relation with microsoft doesn't have to be a requirement.

    Take <a href="hanselman.com/.../">Scot Hanselman</a>, one of my favorite authorities when it comes to asp.net and microsoft technologies in general:

    - He was a long time employee at Corillian as software architect (although he's now a microsoft employee)

    - He's one of the key contributors to DasBlog (open source asp.net blogging engine)

    - He's a host of a popular <a href="www.hanselminutes.com/.../a> where he talks on various themes with main focus on .net

    There are more "evangelists" similar to his profile that are (sometimes) even <a href="classicvb.org/.../">openly confronted</a> with microsoft and their idea for .net technologies.

    Hope this helps.
